Boys fill up their jerrycans at a borehole donated by the Rotary Club of Muyenga, Uganda, as part of the Humanitarian Project Against Malaria, Poverty, Hunger, and Illiteracy in Kasamu-Kyali Parish in the Mpigi District. The project, carried out by the Muyenga club and the Rotary Club of Genk-Noord, Belgium, is made possible by a Health, Hunger and Humanity Grant from The Rotary Foundation. It aims to fight malaria, improve general health, promote economic development, assist farmers, help orphans and the poor, and fight illiteracy. The effort was in 2011.

District 6670 Rotary Foundation Committee

The district foundation committee is responsible for promoting all aspects of charitable giving to the Rotary Foundation. These include the permanent fund; major donors; the annual fund and polio eradication.

The chairs of the committees responsible for the following programs, sponsored through the Rotary Foundation, are ex-officio members of the district foundation committee: GSE committee, Ambassadorial scholarship committee, and the Grants committee.

The district foundation committee is appointed by the district governor. The chair is appointed for a three-year period.

The purpose of the district foundation committee is to:

(a) Promote charitable giving to the Rotary Foundation;

(b) Develop and implement creative and innovative programs to increase the annual per capita contribution in the district to the Rotary Foundation;

(c) Increase awareness of, and participation in the final efforts to “End Polio Now”;

(d) Encourage participation in the Bequest Society of the Rotary Foundation;

(e) Solicit new major donors;

(f) Promote relations with alumni of the various Foundation programs.
